Nanny Jobs

The job of a nanny is a very rewarding one. Along with money, it envelopes love, affection and emotional bonding with the child and the family. However, it requires more than just conventional qualifications to get selected and then appreciated as a nanny. A nanny is not only the caretaker of the child, but also becomes a friend, philosopher and guide, in time. She is responsible for the development of the child's personality.

Interested individuals could contact the nanny referral agencies or directly meet the families. The minimum age for applying is 18, for the citizens of America or any outsider legally permitted to work in the US. Candidates below 18 may opt for the position of a "helper," which involves adult supervision.

Most families prefer a nanny who can serve for at least a year, to ensure the continuity of supervision. Candidates not ready for the one-year agreement can opt for other jobs involving childcare, until they are ready for such commitment.

Prior to applying, individuals are required to be clear about certain aspects of childcare and evaluate their abilities. A lot of patience, energy, enthusiasm, hard work, reliability and flexibility are essential. The person should have an innovative attitude and take creative initiative, while adjusting to the requirement of the child and being a good manager.

Applications can be posted online, filling up the required details in the forms, along with a detailed resume, to the various agencies. The resume and the details, including US work authorization, are checked and verified by these organizations. A thorough background check is included in the process. Once the background check is done, the agencies refer the names to their clients. The candidates are then screened for the specific requirements of the families and sent for a formal meeting with the parents.
